Our client is seeking a Network Architect to drive stability, optimization and design of IP-based services offered from a datacentre environment. This is a full-time permanent position in Montreal, Quebec.
The ideal candidate for this role has a history of design and optimization of complex networks (WAN and LAN). This is a hands-on position where the candidate will be expected to design and implementbusiness solutions. A candidate in this role will be expected to spend;
75% of their time working on Network related activities
25% of their time working on activities related process and policy
Responsibilities:
• Gather and analyze systems and integration requirements
• Drive consensus on requirements between internal and external parties
• Identify and recommend solutions on how requirements can be met
• Work closely with other functional areas within the company to provide guidance, context, and implications of the network solution to be implemented
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent understanding of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
Excellent understanding of switching protocols (ie: Spanning Tree)
Excellent understanding of firewall configuration and maintenance and VPN Technologies
Experience deploying and maintaining QOS
Experience with load balancing products
Ability to troubleshoot complex routing and switching issues that could be impacting service delivery
Hands-on experience designing Local Area Networks including multiple DMZ
Working knowledge of Wide Area Networks
Configuration and deployment of routers and switches (mainly Cisco)
Language Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French
Additional Skills and Knowledge:
Documentation skills and proficiency with MS Office suite of applications;
Working knowledge of network monitoring systems
Required Experience:
• Minimum of five years’ experience in Information Systems (IS) or Information Technology (IT)
• Minimum of three years of LAN/WAN/Converged Network Engineering experience
• Minimum of threeyears’ experience with Cisco equipment
• Minimum of three years’ experience designing, evaluating and recommending converged networking solutions
Preferred Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is a strong asset;
• Experience performing business analysis and understanding
Assets:
• Cisco certifications (CCDA)
• Knowledge of PCI compliancy
