We are looking to hire a Data Architect who will own the overall the TRM data model. The Data Architect will be responsible for collaborating with product application architects, outsource vendors, and Firm-wide data architects for the following:
1. Creation of the product data model.
2. Maintenance of the product data mode as TRM matures and integrates with additional systems across the Firm.
3. Establishing a data strategy – across transactional, operational, and warehoused data.
4. Act as a TRM data SME to groups that are upstream and downstream from TRM.
While the role will be primarily focused on the TRM data model, we anticipate that the data architect will have an opportunity to pitch in and help with other architecture and development endeavors.
Daily tasks will include
- Creating specifications for the TRM data warehouse and supporting repositories
- Creating data dictionary, entity diagrams and other formal specifications for the warehouse
- Writing, testing and implementing stored procedures, bulk load and dump processes for exchange with other systems
- Performance analysis and performance-oriented design optimization of the TRM data warehouse
- Working with the TRM development team to implement robust interfaces to other TRM system components
- Working with developers responsible for other Firm systems that TRM connects to, or that TRM uses for source data to connect and use data provided by those systems
- Understanding the Quality-related third party tools that TRM connects to, to gather code-related metrics
- Creating data transformations for data that needs to be converted into a standard form
Skills Required
The ideal candidate will have minimum of 3 years of experience working as a data modeler/data architect. She/he should have prior experience in playing a data architect role in a major development effort. Knowledge of maintaining a full data model from E/R diagrams through layout of table spaces to actual data tables is crucial.
The candidate should
- Have demonstrated the capability to own a data model over time and help technology teams architect, build, and support scalable and well performing applications.
- The ability to work flexibly with team members located offshore and other geographically diverse locations.
Specific technical skills required
- DB2 and Sybase. Failing specific DB2 or Sybase skills, extensive, recent experience with Oracle development, including data architecture
- Experience with DBArtisan or ERwin
- XML and XML-related tools and processing, including DOM, SAX and XSLT
- SOAP
- C,C++,Perl and Java development experience a plus.
